Havana Hills Classic Ride becomes a two day event!!
February 22 - 23, 2020
In 2020, this event becomes a two day festival of fun! The Ride, of course is always on held on Sunday. It has three very challenging rides of 25, 48, and 88 miles with up to 3,300 feet of elevation. There are two faces to Havana riding, the Hills and the Flats. The Hills are a watershed to Little River. They have always been the local's training roads for Six Gap and Mount Mitchell and the Master's National Championship was held there twice. Also, the Havana Hills Ride has been selected as a Haute Routes training ride.
The Flats are easy rollers on lightly travelled roads. They connect Havana to the South Georgia towns of Calvary, Cairo, Whigham, Climax, Bainbridge and Attapulgus. There is a convenience store every twenty miles.
The $40 registration fee includes the Ride, a Chili & Fixin's lunch, a Ride patch, and an event poster.
We have added a second day, Saturday, to the event that will include family and some shorter rides. We will also provide you maps of trails that you might want to use to see some of the many hill trails that surround Havana. Saturday evening, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm you can enjoy a major concert. We are presently working on the details and will be more specific soon. You can dine at our local eateries, and we intend to have food available at the concert site. Again, more details to come!!
Come in a day early to downtown Havana, and enjoy shopping, restaurants, a stop at the local pub or sip coffee at our town coffee shop.
Lodging is available for discounted prices at the Holiday Inn and Best Western in Tallahassee. Also, the Havana Springs Resort, 3.7 miles west of Havana, has available lodging and a six foot bike lane from downtown Havana to the resort entrance. Then there is historic Quincy, a short 12 miles from Havana on the same road, Hwy 12 where there are several historic and beautiful Bed & Breakfasts to choose from.
The Havana Hills are the best road riding east of the Mississippi River. During the winter, this is the jewel of Florida cycling. It is a “Latitude with an Attitude.” Check the long range weather forecast, make an executive decision and plan a road trip with a friend. Fall and spring are beautiful. A cold winter day, with robin blue skies is breath taking as you experience the rolling hills, beautiful pastoral views and biking at its best.
Thanks to our major event sponsors; Hubs and Hops in Thomasville, Visit Tallahassee, and Havana Main Street
